Our "Socialization" Classes

One of "KKC"s favorite activities is our Wednesday evening get togethers with our dogs
and with each other. The time spent is not as restrictive as in formal training classes,
but rather a time to bring out puppies and young adults, getting them used to
an environment other than home, with lots of interaction with other dogs, with strangers,
amidst the kind of activity that might be encountered at shows and performance events.
We work on particular needs as they arise, and of course do a lot of routines.

In the winter time we meet at
The Ontario County
Cornell Cooperative Extension
in Canandaigua
at 480 North Main St.

That's on the west side
of the street, just south of Tops
and south of the intersection
with North Street.

The socialization classes geared to conformation are scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
When there is enough interest in obedience practice, these folks work out an hour earlier.

In the spring we do have a series of formal handling classes.
These eight week sessions are taught by that distinguished professional handler,
Alan Waterman. These dates will be announced when the time has been established.

Come summer and we move to outside grounds

at HappyTails Animal Shelter
of Ontario County
at 2976 County Rd 48
in Canandaigua.

We practice conformation in a gated ring,
and obedience buffs practice nearby.

The time, again, is 7:00 p.m.

These socialization times are offered at no cost to members, and the dog community
at large is invited as well, at a nominal fee, usually a couple of dollars.
As suggested, it's socialization for the mommas and the popas, for owners and members as well.
We adjourn in winter to The Office Restaurant just around the corner, a neat place
that we all enjoy. Coffee and great desserts or, for those who come straight from work,
a delicious supper. In the summer it's usually Peppers we retire to, near the lake shore.
